End Of Summer❤❤

As Autumn approaches thoughts of camp fires, hot cocoa and cuddles on the couch enter my mind. Autumn is my favorite time of year, the air is crisp, dressing up for Halloween, all the beautiful colors outside make my heart smile.

Staying inside for movie days in replace of swimming at the lake or watching the little league baseball game is what cooler weather brings for most people. I feel like this time of year just begs you to gain weight, and not just from the lazy movie days. Candy from Halloween, Thanksgiving dinner and not to mention all the food and sweets for Christmas, gaining a little weight is a sure thing.

This year is going to be different though. I know, i know, lots of people say this every year right before returning to their old unhealthy habits. But honestly, I was never one of those people to make weight loss promises for my New Years Day wish or to even put much thought into staying in shape over the cooler months. But this year I want to,I want to feel good about myself! So what's next?

My Weight Loss/ Management Plan

I think I'm going to try a couple different approaches to lead a healthier lifestyle. I'm going to start with my mind...I've fallen out of the practice of meditation and that's something i want to get back into for my sanity. Meditation is a great way to focus on and then release any issues you're struggling with mentally. And you don't have to set aside a lot of time for it because you can meditate anywhere and and for any amount of extra time you have. Mental health is just as important as physical health.

I personally love doing Yoga, that combined with meditation bring me to my "happy place". Yoga is amazing for lots of reasons..1. It keeps your body toned and tightened, 2. it keeps you limber, and a lot of things most people don't know about yoga...:

  • People who regularly perform yoga have significantly lower levels of cortisol, the stress-produced hormone that is blamed for abdominal fat.

  • Yoga increases insulin sensitivity, making your body burn food as fuel instead of storing it and turning it into fat.

  • Taking regular vinyasa classes gives you the benefit of cardiovascular exercise and muscle strengthening, resulting in both fat loss and muscle building.

  • If you’re a dedicated cardio junkie, adding yoga to your routine will help build muscles and decrease the stress on your joints.

  • Even if you only take restorative or yin classes, the practice of yoga cultivates enough awareness that you’ll end up eating better and making healthier life choices.

But maintaining weight or actually losing weight may require more than just Yoga and meditation. Healthy eating habits are also important. Just because it's available doesn't mean you have to give into all the sweet temptations during the holidays. Sure its okay every once in a while but moderation is key. I think that having a plan and sticking to it really helps when temptations are unbearable. I'm going to try the Keto Diet, you actually can eat brownies and ice cream and so much more good stuff when you go keto. Even better, you don't have to slave over the stove for hours to create these sweets!

I think that This plan will work well for me and I invite you to join me on this journey, ill leave some links below so you can see exactly what ill be doing, I cant wait to see the results next Summer!
